Food and Forest Development Finland/the Finnish Agri-agency for food and forestdevelopment (FFD)

FFD was established in 2012 by MTK (The Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners in Finland), SLC (The Central Union of Swedish-speaking Agricultural Producers in Finland), Pellervo Coop Center (Confederation of Finnish Cooperatives) and ProAgria (Service Center to Rural Entrepreneurs). It gives peer-to-peer support to agricultural and forestry producers in developing countries in tackling problems of food security and ensuring future food production in a sustainable manner. FFD has the overall responsibility for project management and reporting in line of the MFAF requirements. FFD is also in charge of project monitoring and provide support to project partners in project reporting. In addition, FFD works in close collaboration with the twinning partner to draw lessons learnt from the joint-activities. FFD will also liaise with the most relevant international stakeholders such as the relevant certification schemes, Forest Farm Facility (FAO/FFF) and AgriCord. FFD advisory services will support integrating climate and environmental management in CAs work and developing institutional approaches for
improving inclusion in CAs. FFD will also facilitate the national level advocacy promoting smallholder forestry and cooperative movement as a pathway to poverty eradication, sustainable forest management, and as a part of the solution in combatting climate change and its impacts.

Forest Management Association Pirkanmaa (FMA Pirkanmaa)

Forest Management Association Pirkanmaa (FMA Pirkanmaa) is a member-based forest owners association established in 2011. FMA Pirkanmaa has 33 employers and 5584 members that manage 166 000 hectares of forest. The association is active in terms of publishing its own magazine and engaging its members in advocacy, governance, advisory bodies of the democratic organization. FMA Pirkanmaa offers wide range of services to its members such as advisory and training, forest planning and data management, silvicultural management and wood trade. FMA Pirkanmaa is also considered as a protagonist in legal advice in forest estate and tenure questions and management of nature sites with high conservation value. FMA Pirkanmaa is the project’s twinning partner, i.e. peer-support to NACA and TTHCA in the project, and provides as a volunteer contribution in form of working time.

Center for Climate Change Study in Central Vietnam (CCCSC)

Center for Climate Change Study in Central Vietnam (CCCSC) is the Vietnamese coordination, monitoring and forestry knowledge partner responsible for the project coordination and communication with all project partners. CCCSC provides both administrational and knowledge support to TTHCA and NACA. CCCSC has also specific responsibilities in the field of in the knowledge management in the project including, baseline study, monitoring and evaluation support and forestry and climate studies. CCCSC compiles and submits all the project management related documents (annual plans, budgets, reports) to FFD, facilitates coordination with CAs and VCA with necessary financial assignments such as annual audits and quotation processes, and provides technical advisory and training in sustainable forest management and forest certification.

Vietnam Cooperative Alliance (VCA)

Vietnam Cooperative Alliance (VCA): National apex and union of cooperatives of Vietnam represent and protect the rights and interest of cooperatives, cooperative federations and members. VCA has a special role to ensure the exchange between farmers organizations and other stakeholders at the national level. VCA links and collaborates with other national forestry actors (government, other farmers/forest producer organizations), and provide lobby and advocacy services in support of achievement of project objectives and thus to gain visibility to the challenges and opportunities that smallholders experience in the project target areas.

Nghe An Cooperative Alliance (NACA)

Nghe An Cooperative Alliance is a provincial member of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and an apex organization for 703 cooperatives of which 83 has currently economic forests. The project has a special focus in 2 forestry cooperatives. NACA is responsible of implementation of those project activities taking place in Nghe An following the approved project annual work plans.

Thua Thien Hue Cooperative Alliance (TTHCA)

Thua Thien Hue Cooperative Alliance (TTHCA) is a member of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, and an apex organization for 256 cooperatives in Thua Thien Hue, of which 128 has economic forests. The organizations mission is linked to ensure enabling environment for cooperative’s and their individual and household members’ economic development. TTHCA’s has a centric role in the project in mobilizing cooperatives and providing peer support to NACA. TTHCA is also the lead implementing partner of the project.
